The Second Experimental General Lyceum of Kalamaria organized the MVP conference entitled “Active Citizenship & Democratic Culture” – AC/DC, from 17th to 21st of November 2025. MVP (Mediterranean Values Project) is a partnership of 6 schools, 4 of them members of the Europraject network, from Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Portugal, Turkey and Greece. Participant schools in the AC/DC conference were:

- Escola Básica e Secundária Dr. Ângelo Augusto da Silva, Funchal (Madeira), Portugal
- Sema Karhan Anadoly Lisesi, Torbali, Izmir, Turkey
- 2nd Experimental General High School of Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, Greece
All schools were represented by 2 accompanying teachers and 4 or 5 students. The students were hosted in host families. Snapshots of the conference
The central topic of the work sessions was the active citizenship and the development of democratic culture, with the participation in democratic processes and decisions. The students and teachers participated in various workshops that aimed to capture and highlight the values, rights and obligations in a democratic Europe, the development and strengthening of critical thinking, the attitudes adopted towards racism and hate speech, as well as the importance of participation in democratic life and democratic processes.
Additionally, extracurricular activities were organized and carried out for students and teachers, such as a guided tour of the main historical monuments and sites of the city of Thessaloniki through a game for mobile devices created by our school, an introduction to Kalamaria and its history, a visit to the royal tombs of Aigai in Vergina, and a hike to the Enipeas gorge in the base of Mount Olympus.
